Manager, Energy ConservationJob Description Summary:
The Energy Conservation Manager will be responsible for analyzing current energy usage and developing the district's energy management plan to provide a quality learning environment with cost-effective energy utilization. The Energy Conservation Manager will collaborate with all college constituencies to develop a working model for the integration of energy management and other sustainable concepts and practices into the operations of the college. The Energy Conservation Manager will be tasked with advancing the energy component of Austin Community College's (ACC) Climate Action Plan. The Energy Conservation Managerwill work in collaboration with various departments across the district, including Campus Operations Department, Facilities and Construction Department, and outside vendors, contractors, and students. TheEnergy Conservation Manager will identify desirable energy conservation initiatives; assess cost-effectiveness, technical feasibility, and impact; and gain acceptance by the college community.This position will monitor and analyze energy consumption and costs, oversee campus metering and energy monitoring programs, identify funding opportunities, and coordinate energy retrofit projects and energy audits, including a retro-commissioning/monitoring-based commissioning process for the district. This position will also promote effective standards and procedures for the operation of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, ensuring comfortable and efficient indoor environments.Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
1. Provides technical review of architectural plans and specifications regarding lighting, HVAC, and controls of new and renovation designs to ensure energy efficiency.
2. Develops standards for capital improvement projects and specifications for upgrading and expansion of building systems including but not limited to mechanical & electrical systems.
3. Coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of the college's energy conservation initiatives, including developing and tracking the performance metrics of carbon footprints to meet the district's climate neutrality goals.
4. Monitors and analyzes the district's electricity, water, and gas usage and makes suggestions for improvement.
5. Monitors and manages the district's existing renewable energy portfolio as well as new renewable energy projects.
6. Participates in the shared governance process as an energy and sustainability liaison providing technical knowledge on ACC's energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
7. Assists in various commissioning projects to ensure long-term energy-saving strategy.
8. Researches energy conservation "best practices" at peer and other institutions.
9. Develops long-range plans for implementing energy conservation plans.
10. Assists Facilities and Construction Department and Building and Grounds Department in evaluating HVAC and other energy and lighting equipment to ensure energy conservation measures and their effectiveness.
11. Prepares campus utility reports and assists in the preparation and monitoring of the district's utility expenditures.
12. Pursues other funding sources such as federal and state grants or utility incentive programs when available.
13. Analyzes existing building systems to improve operating efficiency. Analyze data and performance of the boiler, heating units, air conditioning machines, and other mechanical equipment to perform life cycle analysis.
14. Manages and administers energy-related projects that lead to reduced and more efficient energy usage in new and older buildings on campus

Required Work Experience
* Three years related work experience.
* Completion of the ACC Supervisor Certificate Series Program will satisfy the supervisory experience required for this position.
Preferred Work Experience
* Eight years experience in energy management and implementation of sustainable practices.
* Experience working in an higher education setting with diverse constituencies.
Required Education
* Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Education
* Bachelor's degree or higher in architecture or engineering discipline.
Special Requirements
* Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for ACC in-district travel.
Other Preferred Qualifications
* Certified Energy Manager.
* LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional).
* Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
Physical Requirements
* Work is performed in both an internal and external environment with occasional exposure to inclement weather and varying temperatures.
* Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
* May be exposed to hazardous chemicals.

Salary Range
$87,157 - $108,946
