Job Profile Summary
Under general direction, the District Director of International Student Enrollment Services will provide strategic direction for international recruitment efforts and will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies to streamline the international admissions process. The initiatives will also include support services for this group of students leading to international enrollment growth, retention and completion as outlined in the College’s strategic goals.This position will also serve as the primary contact for relevant government and community agencies and Broward College departments and offices in order to recruit, retain and assist international students. In this critical leadership position, the District Director will participate in college-wide committees and International Education programming, manage and develop budgets, and train and supervise staff as needed.
Minimum Education:
- Master's Degree required.
Minimum Experience/Training:
- Eight years of increasing responsibility in international higher education (preferably in international admissions, international student services and/or recruitment). Including five years in management and three years in post-secondary or higher education.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Multiple foreign language proficiencies preferred.
- Experience working with U.S. and foreign government agencies and related organizations regarding international education preferred.
- A record of active participation in appropriate organizations preferred (e.g. NAFSA).
Essential Functions:
- Daily -40%: Develops and implements strategic recruiting initiatives for undergraduate and language training students, including marketing efforts. As well as, develops, implements and coordinates programs for students preparing for Broward College admission into undergraduate and language training programs.
- Daily -10%: Plans, organizes and executes necessary travel needed to recruit international students and maintains and develops international partnerships.
- Daily -10%: Creates and implements articulation agreements for targeted geographic regions and areas of study.
- Daily -10%: Serves as the primary contact for governmental, university, and sponsoring agencies providing comprehensive information related to admissions. Coordinates site visits and arranges special programs at the request of the agencies.
- Daily -10%: Maintains and develops effective domestic and international working relationships with a range of constituencies to foster greater familiarity with Broward College. Liaises with relevant internal and external partners in joint/collaborative recruitment initiatives, including existing Broward College international affiliates and centers.
- Daily -5%: Oversees the design and coordination of advising workshops and orientations.
- Daily -10%: Works collaboratively with the admissions department by overseeing the credential evaluation process, troubleshooting application errors, monitoring admissions systems, and providing training for staff.
- Other -5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, with extensive international experience, either professional or educational.
- Exceptional interpersonal, intercultural, organizational, and communication skills – both written and verbal.
- High level of initiative and goal orientation, including motivation to achieve aggressive goals.
- Knowledge and experience working with Foreign Credentials.
- Knowledge of trends in international student recruitment and emerging student markets.
- Familiarity with academic and cultural issues confronting international students from diverse backgrounds in U.S. college/university and community settings.
- Knowledge of U.S. institutions’ admission policies, higher education policies and practices, F and M immigration regulations and experience with SEVIS.
- Models inclusive excellence through specific actions that support the College’s diversity goals in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of talented and diverse faculty and staff.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in all aspects of own and related areas of the College, and pertinent interdependencies
- General understanding of the external environment and how it affects academia in general and Broward in particular, including political, legal, environmental, educational, financial and social influences
- Strong knowledge of College structure, policies and practices, and the impact on own area
- Proven expertise in planning and executing operational plans, managing projects and/or programs, budgeting and cost control
- Strong managerial and team building skills, and demonstrated ability to motivate and empower direct and indirect reports to achieve area priorities.
- Ability to diagnose, plan and manage resource requirements for own area, including staffing, budgets, equipment, etc.
