Install, implement, maintain, and support physical security systems within Austin Community College (ACC) district to deny access to unauthorized personnel from physically accessing facilities, resources or stored data and increase protection of personnel and assets from damage and harm.Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Performs day-to-day administration of security related tasks such as physical access control, logical access to physical security systems, system and device health checks, and campus communications as needed.
Responsible for providing availability, reliability, and dependability of security systems through proper maintenance, proactive monitoring, and coordination with infrastructure teams.
Performs service/installation of access control, intrusion alarm, closed circuit television systems, and other various security-related systems.
Performs testing and validation of installations and repairs using a variety of tools for network and power analysis.
Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots systems, and performs maintenance, configuration changes and repairs as necessary.
Performs data entry as required to add monitored points and new configuration items across each system, as needed.
Performs upgrades, updates, additions, and integrations to systems in order to increase functionality and usability; coordinates with relevant system administrators to perform additional tasks related to the infrastructure.
Coordinates with administration, departments and external groups to resolve security related issues by applying technical solutions.
Prepares documentation of current systems, changes to configuration items, inventory, tasks and daily service request, etc. to keep accurate records of physical security systems.
Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.
Assists other college and external personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e., coordination with electricians, locksmith, carpenters, etc.)
Provides end user support and guidance on physical security software, hardware and systems usage, ranging from beginners to expert users.
Knowledge
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Working knowledge of project management principles.
Working knowledge of information technology and security best practices.
Strong working knowledge of computer, networks, and information technology-related systems as they apply to physical security.
Working knowledge of structured cabling.
Strong working knowledge of access control systems, video surveillance systems, analytics, electronic personnel protection systems, and intrusion detection systems.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes as they apply to security and life safety equipment.
Skills
Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Ability to use test equipment such as multi-meter, signal tone generator, and cable testers.
Ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
Ability to conduct research, analysis, audits, and quality assurance in relation to physical security.
Ability to track, troubleshoot, document, and resolve end-user and system troubles.
Perform troubleshooting techniques used to resolve system-related problems, whether with application, server, network, cabling, or configuration.
Maintain an established work schedule, providing on-call assistance, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
Effective organization and planning skills including attention to detail and follow-through.
Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to safely drive an ACC vehicle.
Technology Skills
Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Use query and control languages, program, and administer systems and applications.
Required Work Experience
Two years related work experience.
Preferred Work Experience
Three or more years of related technical work experience.
Required Education
High school diploma or educational equivalent.
Preferred Education
Associate degree or higher in security or information technology related fields.
Special Requirements
Licenses/Certifications; Other
Valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record in order to drive an ACC vehicle.
Ability to successfully register and ceritify with CJIS.
Other Preferred Qualifications
Certifications that are highly desirable include Security +, GSEC, CISA, SSCP, CAPM or PMP, ITIL, A+, Network +, or other information technology, best practice, framework, or security related certification.
Salary Range
$55,665 - $69,582
